Analog Mixing
Workshop

This workshop is designed for musicians, DJs, selectors, producers, sound lovers, and curious beginners who want to understand how live analog mixing actually works. No technical background is required. We will start from the basics and build toward a live mixing session where participants can shape sound directly on the console using faders, EQ, routing, and outboard effects. Rather than only talking about mixing, we will explore it by doing it: connecting gear, sending sounds through the desk, using hardware effects, and creating a live analog
mix in real time.

What You’ll Do

• Understand the basic path of sound: how audio travels from a DAW, through an analog mixing console, into effects, and back into the recording.

•  Learn how to use the main parts of a mixing console, including channels, faders, EQ’s, Aux sends, groups, and basic routing.

•  Explore how analog mixing feels different from working only inside a computer.

•  Connect equipment and see how cables, inputs, outputs, and effects become part of the creative process.

•  Use hardware effects and learn how they are routed through the console.

•  Create a live mix using prepared multitrack recordings.

•  Record a real-time analog mix back into Pro Tools.

•  Ask questions throughout and get direct, practical explanations while working with the equipment.

All participants will have the opportunity to work directly on the mixing console and outboard effects.

Participants with their own music production projects are welcome to bring them, and, time permitting, work on mixing their own material.

Instructor:
Dražen Čižmek / Dubar Sound
Duration: 3–4 hours
Participants: 10–12
Language: English
Previous experience required: None

Important Note
This is not a music production or beat-making workshop. The focus is on analog live
mixing: shaping, balancing, routing, and performing sound through a physical mixing
console. The workshop will be conducted using an Allen & Heath GL3000 mixing console
connected to Pro Tools, which will be used for playback, tracking, and recording the final
live mix.
