From journalist Emma Robertson comes BREAKTHROUGH, a book of interviews about seminal albums and the artists that made them. On 22 July, Emma meets with DJ and producer Octo Octa for a listening session and live talk that spans the four albums in her repertoire: Between Two Selves, Where Are We Going?, Resonant Body, and Sigils for Survival. Stay for a drink and pick up a copy of the book in person.

BREAKTHROUGH: 20 Artists on the Album that Changed EverythingBREAKTHROUGH is a collection of interviews with artists about the album that changed everything for them, from idea to production to release. Featuring in-depth conversations with 20 of the scene's most iconic names, BREAKTHROUGH is a tool for music makers, producers, and DJs, but it is also a deep dive into the creative act, and a meditation on art making. Find it online and in stores in July 2026.

EMMA ROBERTSON Emma Robertson is a Canadian music journalist and editor based in Berlin, Germany. She is the executive editor of online pop culture magazine The Talks, as well as the creator and host of AIR, an interview podcast series featuring figures from electronic music and beyond. A regular contributor to publications like LOLA Magazine, Borshch Magazine, and the now-defunct RedBull Music Academy, you can also find her work on platforms like Resident Advisor, and Refuge Worldwide. BREAKTHROUGH is her first book.
OCTO OCTA Maya Bouldry-Morrison first began releasing music as Octo Octa in 2011, on LA’s newly minted underground house label 100% Silk. It was the beginning of a prolific few years in which she released her LP “Between Two Selves” and 2014’s “Cause I Love You” EP. In BREAKTHROUGH, we discuss “Where Are We Going?", a deeply personal album about identity and the self, released on Honey Soundsystem in 2017. The album ended up on several end of year Best Of lists, and was a crucial stepping stone in Maya's career and personal journey.
