Medicine Workshop
Healing thru Philippine & Western Plant Wisdom
In this 2.5 hour workshop we will collectively prepare a simple yet potent medicine of medicinal Body Oil (known as Lana in the Philippines). We will use a combination of regionally available and South east asian herbs/spices. The workshop includes guided meditation, basic self-massage techniques, and supplementary learning printouts. Participants will take a self-crafted oil infusion home with them.
While this space is grounded in Filipino plant medicine traditions, our intention is to embrace the ingredients and recipes as openings towards discussions of the political, spiritual, and personal legacies of plant life. The plant medicines touched in this offering are often found across continents, and thus offer an opportunity for us to build more authentic relationships of solidarity via our shared ancestral crops, medicines, and politicized histories.
This workshop is open to people of all backgrounds, though it is important to understand that our discussions will prioritise the voices and experiences of BiPOC and FLINTA participants. All students will have opportunities to participate and ask questions-- this learning space encourages a spirit of curiosity and self-reflection.
