Listening Venue
What is a listening venue?
You can think of it like a seated music venue, with the intention of listening. This seated music venue puts out a carefully curated and unique monthly program of predominantly live music, with occasional selectors. All based on the theme of open genre sounds.
What is the difference between a listening bar and listening venue?
We do not consider ourselves a listening bar. Our focus is predominantly on live musical performances & programming, more like a seated musical venue.
When the show starts there is no talking and the focus is on the show, rather than our bar.
During our events we offer a delicious but simple drinks menu.
How is the venue setup for an event?
At around 6 pm, we close our record shop and café to the public. From 6 to 8 pm we switch the space into a listening venue setup. In the listening room, we wheel out the individual record shop booths and replace the space with floor seated cushions and tatami mats. The performance booth (on wheels) is then pulled forwards and the sound system is then tuned prior to the performance. Normally between 8.30 and 9.30 our door opens to 40 to 50 guests.
The guest are asked to remove their shoes on entry as a space is a no shoes zone. Our shows generally last until 2330 or midnight.
