Choose a book. 

Read the opening section(s) and answer the following questions:
  1. What's happening? 
  2. Who/what are we introduced to and why? 
  3. What's the form? (layout, text shape, narrative tradition)
  4. What expectations does the writer set up for you as a reader? Guess what might happen next

Make it fun

Exercise:

  1. From one of the pieces you've written, choose the section that you like the most. Ask yourself: Why do I like it? How could I develop it (what might I change about what happens next)?

  1. Write more of the piece. What happens next?

 Do you want to write creatively but don’t know where to start? Do you struggle to put pen to paper? Are you short on inspiration? Join writer Todd Barrowclough for a workshop to get yourself into the groove with writing.


Join like-minded people in a supportive environment and apply what you learn in short, easy-to-follow exercises. At the end of the night you’ll have a piece of writing to take home.


Todd will lead you through ways to get inspiration from the world around you – from your life, from strangers, and from music – and how to get these on the page to level up your storytelling.

Bring something to write on and write with.

This workshop will be delivered in English but you can write in whatever language(s) you feel comfortable expressing yourself in.

We offer a three-tier ticket system to help make our events accessible to our diverse and vibrant community. Whether you choose the Community Care, Fair Share, or Growth Supporter ticket, you’re contributing to the shared experience in a way that works for you. Each tier has a limited number of tickets available, so we recommend securing yours early to ensure you can join us.

All events are limited to 45 tickets / seats only.
Your ticket contribution directly supports the artist and our venue.

We don’t want to be overly rule-orientated, but please keep aware of a few things:

This is not a club night, think of it as a concert. Please arrive on time.
Our events are seated and comfortable with cushions and small sofas, please be aware the listening room has a no shoes policy. Our events are true listening events, please respect the DJ / Performance by not talking loudly or whispering during the show.
